BYE BYE CHOLERA!
On a Monday morning Mr. Mohammed Jarso , a 38 year old male Teacher in Khalifa Abubakar Primary School, attends his first class of the day, a mathematics class in class 4 North. This week, just like the previous week, pupils in this class have been attending lessons without fail .For the previous months this was unlikely since there was a cholera outbreak in the school.
BYE BYE CHOLERA

There have been cases of disease outbreaks in this school and neighboring schools mostly because of bad sanitation practices. Pupils have been defecating in the bush. They don’t wash their hands thereafter. This will also happen when they eat. What happens? They get sick and don’t show up in school. This was a huge problems months before this WASH program by CRS/CDI in our school.”Mr. Hussein told CDI project officer.
There was need to analyze and identify schools badly affected by these problems and come up with doable actions. Khalifa primary school was identified as one of the schools to be supported by the CRS/CDI project. Mr. Hussein Jarso was one of the 10 teachers trained by CDI on child to child (CTC) hygiene promotion and Children Hygiene and Sanitation Training (CHAST).
